Overview

My graduating Graphic Design class of ’21 worked together to host our senior exhibit. COVID caused us to rethink the physical exhibit, and reimagine it as a virtual showing of our 4 years of studies. Designed for an audience of prospective employers such as Design Firms, Ad Agencies, and Marketing Firms, as well as for Friends & Family, the class branding needed to be dynamic and engaging.

Branding

The early stages of this project began with each student creating a simple logo and invitation design to serve as branding guidelines for the exhibit. As a group we all then voted on a final design, which happened to be mine.

My inspiration for the logo was derived from the CMYK color model; given that we’re a group of graphic designers I saw it as fitting nod to our industry as well as a lively, playful color scheme. I wanted the logo to be dynamic, engaging and minimalistic. Using geometric shapes to construct each individual letter, the overlapping of each component creates a new color. The final design pairs nicely with the geometric pattern I created for the invitation and is abstract and memorable.

Web Design & Development

The class was then divided into 4 separate committees (fundraising, social media, printing & website) that worked to make the exhibit launch successful. I worked in a group of 4 students (thank you Larissa, Kaan, and Clare!) to create our virtual exhibit website with WordPress. After we decided as a group on a dynamic and responsive theme to implement, my individual role involved the ideation, set-up, and the management of our design team to completion.

The final outcome is a stunning display of SCSU Graphic Design Class of 2021’s immense talent, and four years of hard work.
